Digital badges aim to clear up politics of authorship


Publishers BioMed Central and Ubiquity Press have started using digital badges to clarify who did what to a scientific paper in a standardised, colourful format. Authors' contributions sections in scientific papers traditionally have a free-text configuration, which are often fraught with ambiguity, and sometimes even misleading.
